About Dr. Haws

Dr. Haws grew up in Jonesborough, TN, and completed his Bachelor's at East Tennessee State University. From there Dr. Haws attended the University of Tennessee dental school, where he graduated in the top 5 of his class, earning the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Award, and the Delta Dental Plan of Tennessee Scholarship award for outstanding academic achievement, graduating with the highest honors.

In 2007, Dr. Haws continued his education at Louisiana State University, completing his Orthodontic specialty. He was a recipient of the 2007 James Bordelon, DDS Memorial Award for clinical excellence in Orthodontics.

Dr. Haws is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honors Society, Richard Doggett Dean Honorary Odontological Society, the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics, and the Southern Association of Orthodontists.

Believing that continuing education is key to a successful career, Dr. Haws continued his education after completing his orthodontic residency through the Advanced Education in Orthodontics program. He completed the Roth-Williams course in Detroit, MI, where he learned that the secret to long-term health and stability is to achieve, as closely as possible, nature's ideal harmony between the teeth, jaw joints, and muscles. Dr. Haws' philosophy is to blend aesthetics, function, health, and joint stability into his orthodontic practice. He believes a pretty smile is important, but it will not last without the correct marriage of function and form within the entire system.
